PRS505 in stock in Argos in London
I was just on the Argos website and noticed that they still have the 505 listed.
For fun I checked my work address postcode to see if it was in stock anywhere nearby. It is! There are three available at the New Oxford Street branch. Bit pricey though, they are selling it for £199 (approx $320), that's more than I paid just after it's launch! |

That is pricy, given that Sony are selling the much more capable PRS-600 at £225. For £26 more, you'd have to crazy not to buy the 600, I think.

Bought mine (well the wife did) for my birthday this month
Paid £199 in Argos, but that was the only place selling them Looked at the pocket - small screen Looked at the Touch - crap touch screen compared to my phone. would give me a headache in 10 mins!!! £199 is a resnable price for the reader, so I am happy My mum got me a light cover - last one in stock - no more expected, and I have added a Tuff Love cover and a Skin (use decal girl in the states - best quality going) Price is a subjective thing, wher everything is only worth what someone will pay for it Dal |

Yeah I was looking at the Argos PRS 505, just glad I spotted the reader on the CEX website and got it for £140 and its in perfect condition, no scratches at all. But it is second hand but im very happy indeed with it.

505 has one distinctive advantage over 600. Screen. If English were my first language and I had a choice of 505 vs. 600, I would definitely go for 505. |

On the other hand, if you're willing to spend a little more, you can get a machine like the BeBook Neo, which has a Wacom touch screen, hence the clarity of the 505, but with all the benefits a touch-screen offers in terms of features.

Harry, do you have any advice on where to buy a Bebook Neo in the UK? Are there any retail outlets where you can try before buying?

Seems to be reasonable. I turn mine off after every reading session, and, a week after last charging it, the battery gauge is still almost full (that's with about 10-12h actual usage). I don't know how good it would be if I just used the "standby" mode; it boots sufficiently quickly (about 25s) that it's not an issue for me.
Of course, if you switch on the WiFi and use it for web browsing, it drains the battery in a few hours, but that's what you'd expect - WiFi is "power hungry", and I leave it switched off. |

All,
I bought my PRS-505 brand new from M&S lakeside, Thurrock for £125. This was down from £175. I think this is an excellent price considering Argos are selling them for £199. Hope this helps someone. Cheers, Vish |
