How do I get an ebook autographed?
I have a sizable library of non-fiction. On a few occasions, I have met the author and had my book autographed. I now buy eBooks; how can I get an eBook autographed? Or am I stuck with buying a hard copy to be signed?

Get a photograph of the author shaking your hand and congratulating you on your purchase. Make it the book cover image.

Well, one option is to have the author sign a body part with a sharpie, then go to a tattoo studio you trust and have the artist tattoo it in.
BookieJar has a way to produce signed ebooks as well, but I've never bothered to look into it. I'd rather sign a pbook, even if it is just a piece from Lulu.com or Createspace. |

I stumbled across Kindlegraph the other day. It allows authors to 'sign' their ebooks. There aren't a ton of people on it right now but it's a fun idea

Independent bookstores usually host these author events for free. They make money off the books they sell during the event. The courteous thing to do is to buy a hard copy of the book and have the author sign that, even if you already own the ebook.
If it's a convention or something where you paid for entry, then I dunno. On my Sony you can make drawings/use handwriting, so you could do that. eP |

I think if you like the author enough to want to go meet him/her and get an autograph, you should just buy the pbook. It's nicer and helps support the store.

Wonder when and where the first virtual book signing will occur?

I have an autograph book that I use when I happen to meet someone worth getting signatures from. I've gone to a couple of book signings and have bought the pbook, too.
Although, I never thought to take a picture and set it as the book cover. That's a great idea. |

Interesting, but I was thinking more in the sense that it would be from a distance inside an eBook. But not bad, not bad at all.

Says to me the author's attitude is "Well, I want you to feel I've done something special for you, without me having to actually do something special for you." Add in a little more improvement in speech recognition, and the fan won't even know the author was asleep the entire signing (conducted by their computer). |
