Looks more like an oversized PDA than an ebook reader

They mention HD video. It doesn't seem that skinny.

That is some ugly hardware, but having the same software on my phone and reader would make me strangely happy.

From the limited amount of what I can see, the android on the touchscreen looks quite appealing.
Perhaps the case would look better in a graphite black rather than silver. |

There is something about the buttons that reminds me of stereotypical little green men. I don't know why. But, since it does, I think it should be bright green.

MID devices shown at CES
Dear All:
What you are seeing in the picture shown above is one of three prototypes of a new MID (Mobile Internet Device) coming from Astak. These were only prototypes and one was a lovely gloss black that was aesthetically pleasing. Yes, it is color and Android. These devices are supposed to be in 7 inch and will do a lot more than read eBooks (although they will do that very nicely). The code name is "Astak Spectrum". It will have great color, a full web browser, have VOiP, run full color games and such, be a picture frame for slide shows, and a lot more. The MSRP is slated to be about $290 This is a fast-track project and could see sales in 2-3 months. The one in the picture was a first prototype and not particularly handsome... but it worked great! No... no pre-order date is set yet! This is just another avenue that Astak is exploring as we grow. |

Three prototypes
Dear All:
A bit more on Spectrum: One of the protoypes was in Android. Two others are in Windows. The Spectrum will likely have a camera on the back for taking pictures and will have a camera on the front for communication with friends. LCD screen. Projected battery life about ten hours. Remember... these are prototypes and we are hoping for Q2 release. Specs may change. Messenger is planned. The reason I am sharing this is that I do not want rumours to start. It is too early in development to say too much more about it. I do think it is a great concept and it appears very much for real. |

My Android replacement does everything that the Treo was supposed to do and only needs recharging every two to three days. |
