Reader survey
I've created a single-question survey of people's reading habits. If you have a sec, please visit http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22BRYFD7S2W and select your answer(s).
Thanks! |

I'm collecting responses from people on all the forums & social networking sites I visit -- wanted a broader picture.

I suspect people lie as much about how much they read as they do about how much television they watch. People I know report reading all the time although no one ever sees them reading and the same people never ever watch television.
I was invited to a dinner party where I knew the people but not well. As we ate I noticed people quit talking and were eating faster. I asked the woman on my right if something was happening. "Oh, yes, the Sopranos starts in five minutes." I watched astounded as everyone moved into the livingroom to watch the Sopranos. I moved out to the patio and read my book. And you won't believe this but that television program was not about opera. |

Why the sudden addition of "but not self-published" in the question about several genres and authors, KC? I had to create an "Other" entry to handle my preference, since I read several genres and authors and have nothing against self-published.
Well, I wouldn't, would I? |

Happy to answer the question.
If you're planning to use this research for anything serious (like deciding whether to write or publish a book), I hope you'll keep in mind that you have a very biased sample, especially as it's completely self-selected. |

Hope my increasingly irrelevant response to your survey helps in some way.
Interestingly, I don't discriminate based on how the book was selected and published but the number of self published novels I have read can basically be counted on one foot. And that, despite my wide ranging and abhorrently eclectic interests in subject matter. |

Looks like the survey is now closed. You might want to edit your original post or subject line, so people don't continue to click on the link to take the survey.

Would you mind sharing the results of the survey? I'm a bit curious.
