Mr Penumbra's 24 hour Bookstore
I just finished it, and I just loved it !!! It is a book made for us here at MR. As a matter of fact, It just feels as if Robin Sloan knows many members here
Seriously though, if you are looking for a great read, if you love books, whether paper or electronic, if you are fascinated by the old and new technologies, this book is for you. READ THAT BOOK !!! And if you have some time left, read both Hilary Mantel books. She just won for the second time the booker Prize for her second tome of Thomas Cromwell's trilogy, Bring up the Bodies, which was another great read for me this year. Did you know that this is apparently based on a short story? I have listened to it some time ago and loved it. I have added the book to my wish list.
The short stoy can still be downloaded at the Escape Pod website: http://escapepod.org/2009/09/10/ep21...ur-book-store/ |

I read the short story version when it appeared - and quite liked it - quirky & well written. I have the novel version loaded now to read.

Thanks for the info, I will check the short story. It will have to wait though, I embarked on a whim (wanted to read the last Chabon or the last Helprin first) in the history of Congo by David van Reybrouck, and that is a long one, but again, fascinating...

I just finished this book few days ago and I love it!
I envy Clay Janon's job, lol. It must be thrilling having that experience in real life. I even found myself googling about the dragon books, hehehe. It's different and I hope, a producer will buy the right of this book and turn it into a movie. That would be a witty one |

Just finished this book, and I'll second everything aceflor said in the very first post. Not sure what genre I'll end up filing it under, it was a quirky but very enjoyable book. If you don't like Google I'd probably give it a miss though!
