In the Patricia Clark Memorial Library, under the Kindle section, you'll find the results of my re-reading of a number of books from my youth, mostly trash, but fun trash. Things like Peyton Place, Bulldog Drummond, Raise the Titanic!, and so on. Some of them held up well, and were still fun. I enjoyed them all, even the duds.
Look for author: Pulpmeister; title "The Pulpmeister Reviews." Usually, under the influence of a particular book, I wrote a piece about it, unintended for publication. I had about a dozen, so I made them into an e-book and posted them for anyone to read. I am still avoiding re-reading Treasure Island and King Solomon's Mines, in case they don't stack up, because I have really good memories of them. |

I'm sort of going through a "revisitng my youth" thing.
But not ME re-reading books from years ago. I have 2 kids, 11 and 13. both love reading books and I've been recommending book to them I read many years ago, such as the David Eddings books, Tolkiien, Enid Blyton, John Wynhdam, loads of books really and the vast majority of them they love. They DO read their own choices of books as well. I started it off by saying if they read a book I want them to read I'll read something THEY want me to try. It works very well. |

Might have to re-read it myself! I'm a chronic re-reader. I have a TBR list a mile long and a book I've read more than once will often get bumped to the top of the pile. |

I'm breathlessly awaiting Mary Stewart and Jane Aiken Hodge.
Georgette Heyer is out there, and some of Victoria Holts have arrived now. |

Good work, dude
I've not read Treasure Island or King Solomons Mines in my youth, but have read them after being presented to ebooks. TI is wonderful, both in plot and prose. KSM does a good job up to the journey through the desert. Then it begins to stink, with far too much colonial racism and a bland war. Last edited by Namekuseijin; 02-08-2014 at 10:01 AM. |

I don't re-read as much as I used to, but I do like to go back and read the books by favorite authors that I missed out on.

I've always reread books and rewatched movies. As crich70 said, they're like old friends.

I always try to get my favorites in ebook format as soon as they become available.

I'm also waiting for Mary Stewart's books and more of Victoria Holt's, as well as Phyllis A. Whitney's. |

I'm usually concerned that a re-read book is time that could have been spent discovering a new favorite. That said, there are some books from childhood that I've been meaning to read again with adult eyes, such as The Westing Game.

I have managed to find a few of the hard copy books of the Radio Boys series as well as e-versions off of archive.org. It helped spark my interest in my radio hobbies. I still read them.

I've found myself buying ebook versions of some of my old favorites just so I have them handy on the road. It was disappointing to find that the electronic edition of Demon of Undoing lacked the beautiful cover art of the paperback (of which I've worn out two of).
