Has anyone tried exactly measuring the screen area minus the battery and page part and using that? I will be trying this tonight.

I use a A4 page layout with 22 or 24 pt fonts.
It also suitable for my EBK reader. (6.4")

I can tell you the status bar appears to be about 32 pixels high.

Reader screen size (without status bar)
90mm x 117mm = 3.543" x 4.606"
(add or take half of the millimeter)

So, to get same amount of text, I have to change font size from 14 to 10.

On the Reader they both (5.24"x6.69"/14 and 3.543"x4.606"/10) look pretty much the same.

Natch,

Out of curiousity how did you determine 32 pixels? I don't doubt you, just curious how you arrived at that. I was thinking 30 and was going to start formating pictures to 600x770, but 600x768, will be close too. I just don't want the software to stretch the image at all and cause little artifacts.

Thanks,
Jesse

I figured out the aspect ration on the pix they included in the Reader, and then applied that ratio to the 600 pixel width -- viola: 768 pixels.

I could be off (I did do the arithmatic with a calculator, so that eliminates a big margin of error right there: my arithmatic skills, or lack thereof), but the pix I made to that size worked well, with no black border anywhere, so not by much.

I'd call 600X770 close enough for jazz too -- the pixels are about 150 micons after all. I figure one or two won't make that much difference either way.

That's a good idea using the stock images as a reference for the optimal image size. Thanks!

I am really struggling with the PDF support on the Reader. PDF support is important to me b/c I receive a lot of documents in unencrypted PDF that I am asked to read. I was just trying to use the settings folks mentioned above, and though I managed to set the page size, I cannot manage to change the font size. It seems Adobe's Text Touchup Tool is not really suited to global changes akin to changing the font size in an entire document.

Am I missing something? Is there no way to make the Reader and PDFs work well together? I realize that if I'm creating my own PDFs, I can set the font size before creating the PDF. But if I receive an unencrypted PDF, is there a way to change the font size without working line by line or paragrah by paragraph?

I'm desperate! Thanks for any and all assistance.

Just increasing font size without restructuring page might not help due to different reasons.

There is Solid PDF Coverter, that suppose to convert PDFs to Word format. And from there one can, theoretically, change page/font size and create new reader-compatible pdf.

Slava,

While checking out Solid PDF Converter, I realized that the full version of Adobe Acrobat has the ability to convert PDFs to Word (and other formats). It is under the 'Save As' menu item, while I looked for it under some kind of 'Export' menu item.

Having saved the PDFs as Word files, they are quite readable on the Reader.

Thanks for your input!

If I create image pdfs, should I think about resolution as well as the size?
For example if I want to scan into pdf and then read on SR, what resolution should I choose?
