Public Relations moves into eBooks territory

Perhaps this sort of thing is old news to many of you here, but this is new to me.

Sports leagues and teams in the US distribute what are called "Media Guides" to members of the press. These include photos and bios of each player and various statistics. Originally meant only for the news media, for the past thirty years they have been sold to the public, replacing yearbooks which were mostly puff pieces.

Yesterday I visited the website of a pro football league called the United Football League (which is owned by the millionaire husband of soon to be former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi).

And what did I see, but the league's Media Guide available for downloading for free in both pdf and txt formats.

The UFL is new, in its second year, and very much needs all the publicity it can get. Apparently someone in the office is hip to eBooks, and sees this as an opportunity.

If they were really hip to ebooks, they would add an epub version and a mobi for Kindle!
