Do you password protect your e-reader?
I was just wondering how crazy someone could go if the stole your e-reader (in my case Kindle).
Could someone go on a crazy Amazon fun run or would they come to a grinding halt if the half-inched my new limb? Should I start passwording my device? What do you people do? |

On a Kindle, all they can do is buy books for your account, and you get notified each time a book is purchased. Surely you would notice if your Kindle is missing, and would have notified Amazon. You can return a book within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Don't know for sure about other ereaders, but I don't believe other brands let you return ebooks. I don't password my Kindle because, 1) my Kindle is so old it doesn't have that option, and 2) it would be too much trouble to enter the password every time I wake the Kindle up. |

I don't.
Mine has my contact information in it in case I ever lose it, and if I did lose it I'd alert Amazon so that no new purchases could not be made on my account. |

There's no reason on mine; there's no connection to a store and no important confidential information inside.

The only reader I typically use away from home is the 350, and it doesn't access the net. It does have personal information on it though, so maybe I'll start.

My PEZ does not have a password function.
The 4G SD card (where I keep my books) slot is on the outside The K4NT. it would be a PITA to enter a password every time |

No point on mine - no store and all books are on SD card, so whoever took my reader would have the books anyway, password or no password. I've set it to show my email in the menu so if its an honest person they can contact me or give it to lost&found or whatever. Although I guess I should use a sticker on the back instead for the tech potatoes.

I must be the odd person out here. On my Nook STR, the account password must be put in to purchase new ebooks from B&N. But that's as far as password protection goes, anyone could steal it and just start reading books if they wanted. :-)

I don't. I pick up my Kindle to read several times a day - entering the password would get annoying very quickly.

I have a PIN lock on my Nook Color that I can toggle on and off from the home screen--it's off most of the time, but sometimes I turn it on if I'm out and about, or if there are kids running around.
