Sorry, aber wenn die Infos von Pocketbook, insbesondere dir, kamen was soll man da noch glauben? Die Leute (auch ich) haben damals für die angekündigten Features, welche von Anfang an gehen sollten, nicht minder mehr bezahlt. Wenn ich nur lesen hätte wollen, hätt es auch ein andres Gerät getan. Ich habe mich bewusst für ein Gerät mit einem erweiterten Featureumfang entschieden und dafür auch mehr bezahlt.

Im Ankündigungsthread für den 302er war damals schon die Rede von RSS-News, Notes usw. und wenn die Sachen in keiner 'offiziellen' (Beta ausgeschlossen, weil da befinden wir uns seit über 1,5 Jahren) Firmware vorhanden sind, wie kannst du da von "Die Kaufentscheidung durch mit schon vorhandenen Funktionen begründen" sprechen?

vllt ist android als ganzes zu ressourcenhungrig im vgl zu einer embedded linux wie die reader sie momentan benutzen - ka. aber das wäre ne passende frage für n android dev forum - die HW specs der gängigen ereader sind ja einsehbar

Interessante Links, aber was hat das mit reymunds Frage zu tun?

Das wäre schon eine tolle Sache, auch mit einer Zahlung an Microsoft.

Die Frage ist, ob die E-Ink-Displays so etwas überhaupt darstellen können. Gab es da nicht mal ein Shooter-Spiel, das auf den PB 360 lief und ich erinner mich auch an ein Video, das auf E-Ink lief. Gehört hat man davon aber nichts mehr. Irgendwie ist E-Ink stehen geblieben.

Das führt aber über kurz oder lang wieder zu so einem "tollen" Alleskönner, der alles ein bisschen aber nix richtig kann. Ich bin da eher Fan von Spezialisten. Angry Birds in s/w mag ja gehen,aber da nehme ich doch lieber mein Tablet oder Handy, das gleiche bei Videos oder Flash Inhalten. Und ob dann noch viel Akkuzeit übrig bleibt ist auch fraglich

Mag sein. Videos und Spiele würde ich jetzt auch eher überflüssig finden, es geht mir mehr um die Möglichkeiten von E-Ink. Es wäre schon schön, wenn ich völlig frei wäre in der Entscheidung mit welchem Programm ich meine Bücher lese. Zu einem guten Mail-Client und einen Browser, der meine bevorzugten Nachrichtenseiten flüssig darstellen kann, würde ich auch nicht nein sagen. Ich kann mir schon vorstellen, dass ein solches Gerät auf dem Markt Erfolg hätte.

Verstehe mich nicht falsch, ein Basis-Modell nur zum Lesen hätte ich dann auch noch.

Die Antwort von Fork beweist allerdings das PB nicht zu den Firmen gehört die für innovative Ideen aufgeschlossen sind , gleich mir dem Hinweis auf Lizenzgebühren abblocken, lassen mich auf solche Ideen kommen . Aber der Tipp mit Sony ist gut nur läuft das Teil etwas langsam, aber der Anfang ist gemacht.
Die andere Möglichkeit um für alle Systeme offen zu sein wäre , auf den Kindle ein zweites Betriebssystem zu installieren.

Was wir wollen, und was wir können ist leider nicht immer gleich... Eine Umstellung komplett auf Android würde bedeuten für uns folgende:

1. Enorme zusätzliche Aufwand durch "neu schreiben" von der ganze Firmware für Reader auf Androidbasis
2. Nicht vorher kalkulierbare Risikos wegen mögliche nachträglich kommende Lizenzgebühren.

Was konkret für uns bedeuten würde, der Markteintritt von geplanten neuen Modellen von 1-2 Quartal 2012 auf 4 Quartal 2012 zu verschieben, und höhere Selbstkosten bei der neuen Geräten...
Sony hat ganz andere Ressource dafür, läuft aber noch nicht alles rund, wie man aktuell hört...

PB nutz doch bereits Linux, da sehe ich keinen Sinn jetzt auf Android zu wechseln.

@PB: machts den Nutzern einfacher in dem ihr ggf. ein Repository aufsetzt, das im Reader entsprechend konfiguriert und dann per Paketmanager updates oder auch neue Software installiert (über den Nutzer installieren lasst). Die Technologie gibts ja schon, ihr müßt das Rad nicht neu erfinden.

Warum ein eigenes Repository: um ggf. Pakete neu zu bauen, die mit der vorhandenen Hardware zurecht kommen. Ich weiß nicht, wie es mit bereits vorhandenen Repositories aussieht, möglicherweise gibts da aber schon was.

Die Lizenzfrage sollte sich auch von selbst klären, wenn ihr erstmal nur GNU Software einsetzt. Macht ihr ja auch jetzt schon. Der Pool ist da schon entsprechend groß.

Auf meinen popeligen Handy von Anno dazumal gehts ohne Probleme. Zu eurer Ehrenrettung sein gesagt, Calibre scheitert da leider auch dran.
Aber: Amazon wirbt mit seinen Kindle 3G genau damit, das man jederzeit Zugriff (in diesem Fall auf die Onlineversion) auf Wikipedia hat. Es scheint da also eine Nachfrage zu geben.

Noch ein Wort zu den Formatvarianten: es ist toll wenn viele Formate unterstützt werden und PB das kann (war auch für mich ein Argument für PB). Ich wage aber zu behaupten, das in der Praxis nur wenige Formate tatsächlich eine Rolle spielen. Hier im Forum sind die Anwender da sicher nicht ganz repräsentativ. Aber bei den meißten Anwendern da draußen sinds meißt nur PDF, ePub und Mobipocket.
