Calibre and iTunes
is it just my computer or does Calibre not play nicely with iTunes? I find I can have one or the other open, but not both - if I try to have both, my computer freezes.

I've had problems with Calibre freezing my computer, but don't think I had iTunes running. I just go slowly when I have Calibre open - fewer clicks and jumping between programs.

I don't have any problems when both are open and active. How much memory do your computers have?

Freezing up your computer should not be a function of how fast you click.
First off, in order for people to help you, you need to provide more information. Do you have a Windows or Mac computer? Do you have all the latest software? Does it freeze when you attach your device or anytime? In order to assist you, you need to be much more specific about your problem. Happy Monday Archon |

PC, running Windows 7 with plenty of memory (I dont' know how much, but my husband just upgraded me. Current versions of both iTunes and Calibre. I can have the two open at once, but can't have my iPod and my Kindle connected at the same time.

You can not have 2 devices recognized (i-Tunes and Kindle) by Calibre connected (at the same time.

The recommended way of using Calibre in conjunction with iDevices is to do it via iTunes, and to have the Calibre device driver for Apple devices disabled. This is described in this sticky.
If you have Calibre set up this way it allows Calibre to interact directly with the Kindle, and you use the Connect to iTunes Calibre option to send books to the iDevice. |

done - that should do it. Since all I have is a 5th gen iPod Nano, it never occurred to me that Calibre was trying to recognize my iPod as a device. If I ever get an iTouch, I'll have to re-enable that plugin.
Thanks! |
