Free modern Bible translations for iPhone, Ipod Touch and iPad
Youversion.com has a free bible app for download. You can read various bible translations when you are online. There are however a couple of bible translations that you can download for free to your device for offline reading, including modern translations like the Holman Christian Standard Bible, New King James Version and the Spanish Reina Valera 1960. The latter one might not be modern but I think it is the most used one in Spanish-speaking countries.

This is a very good app and the #1 bible app (or was) on the iPhone.

By the way, the Holman Christian Standard Bible is also available as ebook for free at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, CBD and Sony and maybe iBooks (with geographical restrictions). This is the pure text. Other electronic versions with for example text references are sold for money. I bought one like that in another iPod Touch app (Olive Tree).
