I would advise telling your Mom that she is getting a Kindle when she goes to visit your Brother. Then wait to send it to him until a week before she arrives. That gives him a week to play with it, and ask you for one, and her some time to use it. Then if she doesn't like it she can return it in the 30 day window and get a full refund.

I think you get one that has some form of wireless connection at least wi-fi. This makes the books very easy. not connect the device to your computer.
