Bowels, anyone?
An amusing local news story from my neck of the woods.

Thanks for the chuckle, Harry. Salford was my old stomping ground for many a year (ex Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, Sunday People and Granada) and it can be a laugh a minute. And, TGS ... Modern Wigan has no PEER! At least that was the winner of a local GPO franking stamp contest back in the sixties. It was used on all outgoing mail for quite some time, while Wigan Pier itself was still waiting to be made into a tourist trap. Cheers. Neil

Enlighten me, indoor bowls? Isn't a bowl something you can put other things in?
(I know what bowels are, and it would be bad if they were outdoors!) |

Reminds me of when I sent a hand typed snippet of Allen Steele's King of Infinite Space to a potential paramour. It had to do with recently thawed cryogenically frozen humans eating soup from "bowels" as part of their rejuvenation.
We never hit it off after that. |

... and a person a my work left a note, saying he had left the salad in the fridge in a bowel...
We also had a manager, called Mrs Bowles... She was horrible, and I always addressed my letters to her as Mrs Bowels.. English is my second language.. Last edited by lene1949; 10-27-2010 at 04:01 AM. |

Similar to bocce (Italian for bowls) in the US except the balls (bowls) have no bias.
