It is confirmed! Our August selection is "A Passage To India" by E.M. Forster.
Does anyone know where to find it? I did a very quick search here in the MR epub library and found Forster but no APTI. It should be public domain, yes? |

It was published in 1924 so I think it's still under copyright in the US. According to Project Gutenberg, "Works published and copyrighted 1923-1977 retain copyright for 95 years. No such works will enter the public domain until 2019 unless one of the other rules applies."
Here's an inkmesh sort of options where to purchase the book. http://www.inkmesh.com/ebooks/a-pass...ssage+to+india Last edited by Bookworm_Girl; 07-26-2011 at 11:57 PM. |

I got it as a freebie on Copia some time ago, but I am not sure is free anymore - however, you can download it very legitimately for free from here:

Rosetta Books offered a free and legal download of the novel in various formats--but it may not be available internationally.

Nice choice beppe. I've never read this and I didn't mind A Room with a View when the other book club read it.
Colour me interested. |

Thank you Beppe! I Think Passage To India is an excellent choice.
I did read it some years ago and enjoyed it but now that I'm reading it again I find that I really had forgotten what a wonderful stylist Forster is. His prose is so beautiful! |

How many are reading? It's just that it's been so quiet and I wondered... I am reading BTW. Just started today.

I've read A Passage to India and to say it's awful is being kind.

I've read A Passage to India and while I can't remember it all that well except for the scene in the cave (and will admit I preferred Room with a View and Where Angels Fear to Tread), I know I didn't hate it. I won't mind rereading it and expect to enjoy it.
I'm more on the fence about whether or not I'm up for a reread of Slaughterhouse Five in the other club. I had never heard of three of the novels and hoped one of them would make it, but it seems it's not to be. However, the local university has all three and they're all available, so they're on the TBR list. |

Actually about half done. I should be finished in the in the next day or two. Then it's about a 6-8 days of virtually no reading time with all that will be going on around here for me. It looks like a blowout for Slaughterhouse Five in the other club selection. Don't feel like reading that for the third time so I need not worry about fitting that in. I'll be reading Black Rain once more, and have requested the WWI book (that did not make the vote) from my library.
