That market is willing to pay extra (often a lot extra) for rugged. The consumer market might like rugged, but would balk at the price.

But you can bend them nearby black holes. Guess what? Some years down the road and everyone will carry their very own, personal mobile hadron collider! Tiny nano black holes on the go, perfect to recharge your batteries, mess with your quantum computations and teleport you to a spooky distance...

Don't mind it itself requiring a city's worth of power consumption...

A lot of users complain about the flash between pages on e-ink. I can't say it bothers me greatly, but I would definitely rather not have it!
I'm not interested in the video aspects, but am definitely interested in virtually zero-refresh/selective screen refresh rate for eInk devices, just for seamless page turns. Looking forward to how this progresses in the near future.

Besides the demonstration using video, in my view the important point is that E-Ink technology is reaching refresh rates that make it usable for the display of a laptop. Think about a PC that, by not using power when displaying fixed images and by putting the processor in near-sleep every time it can, has a battery life of (say) 50 hours with common batteries (just think about how much of your screen displays a fixed image, and for which fraction of the time, while you're using the PC... the ability to perform partial refresh is of course crucial here).
Moreover, such a PC:
- could be used in full sunlight or with strong ambient light;
- would perform greatly as an ebook reader.
Can the lack of color make such a device unmarketable? Let's hope not.

It just needs to be small enough and light enough to hold in one hand (Kindle3) and also be useful for writing with, slideout keyboard perhaps.
