Bless your heart, Ellen. I find format shifting books to be a pain as well, but I do it for the sake of archiving. I want my books in a format that I am reasonably sure will read on my PC and be convertible to several other things five or ten years down the road. For now, that format seems to be .rtf, so that's what I convert to.
