calibre's ebook viewer unable to open/read some .azw3 files

calibre's ebook viewer unable to read some azw3 files
I daily download free books from amazon via their Kindle desktop application and then "add" them to calibre. About 10 days ago I started receiving files that the ebook view was unable to open (see following messages, each book has similar messages but with different line #s).

The files will open in the Kindle desktop application without any problems. This process worked 100% of the time until about the 11th of this month. Now about 10% of the files are coming up as problems. Suggestions for solutions would be welcomed. (I haven't added any new software or updates lately, running on Vista and using version 9.30 of calibre) Thanks in advance for taking a look at this. (p.s. not a computer programmer, just somewhat familiar, plain language instructions & patience appreciated.)

I beleive that this problem was fixed in 0.9.31, released two days ago.
