Our last two spots go to the non-tasty (fowl tasting?) chicken. This gives Orlok the win with 4 correct answers.

Thank you. Here's a quickie:
Start at the second month of the year in the Julian calendar and go backward 4 months. Combine the antepenultimate letter of that month with the ultimate letter of the month during which Daylight Savings Time began in the US prior to 2007. Add to that the antepenultimate letter of the month named for "Venerable Caesar." End with the penultimate letter of the month of the autumnal equinox. The resulting word is?: 1. Eukaryota 2. An unfocused image 3. A boaster 4. The fifth color in a rainbow Note: I'll need the explanation as well |

4. BLUE.
In the Julian calendar, the first (& last) month of the year was March, so the second is April, going back four gets us to December, and antepenulitmate is not the last (ultimate) not the second last (penultimate) but the third from the end: B The last letter of April is L Venerable Caesar is Augustus, so the month is August, and the letter is U Autmnul Equinox is 21st September, so the letter is E Last edited by pdurrant; 11-09-2012 at 05:09 PM. So the answer to this quiz is ---
4. The fifth color in a rainbow See PDurrant's explanation for why this is the answer. __________________________________________________ ___ P.S. I'm just joking around. I was snaking poohbear's answers earlier, so I thought I'd give a shot at stealing pdurrant's too. Last edited by Daithi; 11-09-2012 at 04:52 PM. |

If the answer is ten, then I would like to see how it was worked out. I know we could prove it knowing the answer, but other than trial and error, how do you get to the result?
please....... And they sold green cars on the first day, and blue ones on the second. |

If they sold n cars the first day, they sold n+6 the second, n+12 the third, n+18 the fourth etc.
So they sold: 1. day: n 2. day: n+6 3. day: n+12 4. day: n+18 5. day: n+24 6. day: n+30 6+12+18+24+30=90 150-90=60 60/6=10 Edit: Just for the pure fun of it, let's set up the complete equation (in one dimension). Every paranthesis is the sale for one day. Inside the square paranthesis is the total sale for the previous day: (n) + ([n]+6) + ([n+6]+6) + ([n+12]+6) + ([n+18]+6) + ([n+24]+6) = 6n + 90 = 150 6n = 150-90 = 60 n = 10 Edit: I have ignored the colors of the cars Last edited by Iznogood; 11-09-2012 at 07:15 PM. |
