Need

My son has not used his Literti in a few months. So I thought I put some ebooks on it for him.

There are old files on the Literit HD BUT they dont show until I install the SD Card. They are covers of ebooks. The SD Card is Brand New these books were Never on it. The Reader itself wont got back to Factory or Formate! I even tried to Delete them 1 by 1 & keeps saying I cant. When I try to open them says I need ADE to do it. ADE dont reconise them either.

Also the reader Wont reconise any New eBooks No matter how I try to load them either direct to HD thru ADE or thru SD Card.

Any help to fix this is appreciated!

The device keeps the book covers on its internal memory, which is what you are calling the HD. These files exist regardless if the actual book file exists or not. You can try connecting the Literati to a computer using the usb connection. The HD should show up as a drive. You can then find the folder with these covers and erase them. Hopefully that will clear the problem of having non existing books show up.

Nope I tried that several times it reses to work also tried Factory Reset!

How about pressing the reset button on the back with a paper clip? Then see if you can erase the files mentioned.

The next thing would be to flash the firmware again.

I tried reset on back tried going back to factory reset Evey thing several times. & Most of the links in this thread are Dead.

KoboReader.sqlite won't delete? or it will delete but doesn't affect the display after the db is rebuilt?

Are there any files in the .kobo\images folder?

Have you tried reloading the 60mb image file (linked a month ago) onto an SD card and booting up to restore everything?

Error says Not Authrized to do.... ADE does reconise the litirati so I know thats not the problem. O Also says files crupt. I cant find any thing on th einternet to fix it either. Son say toss it but I hate to... Maybe some one with another litariti can use their working reader to transfer files? Looks great battery still works after 8 hrs LOL FREE if the person pays COD for postage LOL Not Techy!

My Literati, after about a year of many great moments, decided to stop reading my SD cards. Hence, that is the end of our adventures together, sadly. I just got myself a Nook Simple Touch, and while I really miss reading at night with my Literati, I am managing well. I still buy most books from Kobo, though. I love their prices and great variety. B&N doesn't offer much in the discounts/promo codes department for ebooks right now.

I have K3 & Sony T1 but my son doesnt like them. He likes Color for D&D books & the black background with white words for other books. Anyone know what I can buy like that for him?

Are you trying to delete the files from within ADE? Try deleting from the regular file explorer window. It really does sound like your sqlite file just got corrupted.

Last resort is to reinstall the firmware. Download this file. http://download.kobobooks.com/firmwa...0/KoboRoot.tgz
Put it on the SD card. Turn the Literati off. Wait a few seconds. Hold down the q button on the Literati keyboard and turn it back on. You should see the message that it is installing software or something along those lines. It's been a while since I've done it so I forget the message. When done, you should have a clean device.

You could try putting that firmware file on the internal memory. I forget where it needs to go, I'll have to check. I think it was in the .kobo folder.

Well I give up Iposted it on Freecycle today next step dump! But figure some one could use it for parts. We will see.

A lot of the links on this thread have vanished over the past 18 months! Maybe its time to update....
