sony ps300 battery draining

I bought my ps300 about 3 months ago and tend to use it mainly when I am travelling. I have discovered that if I don't use it for a few weeks the battery goes flat - has anyone else had this problem or am I doing something wrong?

Do you actually power it down, or just put in sleep mode.
The reader will continue to draw a small amount of power in sleep mode, even if the screen is blank.
Powering it completely off will stop the power drain. Then all you have to contend with is the normal battery self discharge, which is very very slight.

Thanks - I switch it off completely so it sounds like there is a problem with the battery.
Luckily I got it on a good deal from a local retailer so there will be no problem taking it back
