Unhappy epyb 3 fixed layout .. hyperlink for internal resources

hi,
I use epubcheck v3.0b5 to test my fixed layout epub 3 book and I always get this warning "..... hyperlink to resource outside spin".

and this is my code:

<a href="Image/image05.jpg"><img style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px;" src="Image/image04.jpg" alt="car image" > </img></a>

I want to open any image enlarge .. I get the enlarge mode but the image doesn't appear.

Thanks for any ideas,
Ali

From a spec perspective - to tell you where epubcheck is coming from:

The spine describe the 'play' order of the document and is the list of top level "item"s in the epub in order that they should appear. You cannot link to items that are not in the spine (because then you would be outside the playorder, and next and previous etc... would have no meaning).

Furthermore the only legal spine items are html or svg documents (- there is some wiggle here, and most readers will actually support image files - but it still isn't legal).

In the here and now however - if the image in question is the background image for the html you are working on, then you will need to rely on the reader to provide zoom in actions for you.

If the image in question is composited upon the background, then you should create an additional html page where the larger image (Image05.jpg in this case) is the background of another html wrapper page, and place that html in the spine.

thanks Jim for your reply.

but why only fixed layout has this problem ?!!!!
you can double click on any image in reflowable epub3 page and open it in full screen mode Although this image doesn't located in the spine !!!! I don't know why fixed layout doesn't do the same?!!!!

Have you tried simply including the image with <img> and dropping the link (<a href="...">)? I believe iBooks allows zooming on images like that (and that's a feature I wish other readers would have).

I wouldn't be surprised, however, if it didn't work in fixed-layout ePubs, they're supposed to be fixed anyway (and I'm sure such a concoction is full of bugs).
