I do my handwritten notes in Draw & Share (which saves as a .png) and select Share/Evernote-Create Note and post to my paid account.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the handwritten notes are searchable for text within the note. See screenshot:

nice.
It would be really easy to do this on the journal. We just need a email as image option. Then instead of choosing the email program you choose evernote. Quote:
