Futrelle, Jacques: My Lady's Garter. v1. 3 January 2012
Jacques Futrelle is today remembered mainly for his S F X Van Dusen "Thinking Machine" stories, of which he wrote many, and also for dying on the Titanic.
He also wrote a number of novels of varying types. This is a light-hearted caper novel involving a mysterious crook known only as The Hawk, several detectives, and a Bertie Wooster-esque poet, all in pursuit of one of the two original jewel studded garters created for Henry VIII and the Order of the Garter. The action is in New York and Massachussets. I have tidied up a number of literals and typos, added a table of contents and found a cover, to enhance an original Gutenberg version.
