Harlan Coban latest........
Thought I would see what this new one was about, I like the Bolitar series.
Went to the Kobo site, clicked in "Caught" to find out more...... and was presented with this as a "synopsis" : " The pulse-pounding new thriller from Harlan Coben. This stunning new thriller from Harlan Coben will not disappoint. As always, Coben's masterful narrative will gently draw each reader in and consequently shock them at every twist and turn. " So now I am supposed to be fascinated by the storyline, hooked by it's ingenuity, and feeling Coban is up to scratch with his latest offering........... Hmmmmmm.................... "Synopsis"......................... ? |

C'mon, you know the formula. Win breaks someone's kneecaps (or just wants to), Myron dodges cream pies, Esperanza tsk-tsks at him, and, oh yeah, some new secret from his past surfaces, lol.

Got it, read it - not bad. My problem is I m getting a bit bored of some of the formulaic writing now being churned out by these authors.....need new blood.

Connelly seems to manage it with Bosch, but I must say, the "expanded" review doesn't make me desperate, to be honest.
Tried James Lee Burke ? I know, I always go on about him - but, well, he is some writer ..........I mean I can just read them over and over. I probably get through the whole canon around once every 2/3 years. And never any problems buying me a book for b/day or Christmas......... Brilliant. |

Connelly has better prose, more depth to the character, and a stronger sense of location. Los Angeles, the real deal, is almost a character in his stories.
