Is it time to buy stock in B&N?
A wall street analyst upgraded B&N to "buy," citing the NookColor's growing sales and the closure of Borders' stores... and the stock is moving up.

I bought a couple months ago. I'm not sure if I would buy now that the price is up 30%, though.

Buying stocks based upon analyst recommendations would be a good way to lose money -- especially over the past decade or so.

By the time most analysts upgrade a stock, it is too late. The stock will be at its premium and further rising of the stock value is not a foregone conclusion. Borders' closing of its stores is already reflected in the stock price today.
However with the announcement coming in a few days of another ereader, that might cause for a little more uptick. |

Tough call. The new reader might improve B&N's prospects, but they still have a large physical infrastructure that can use some downsizing. It might be worth a short-term profit, but I still expect their stocks to do some more rising and falling in the near future.

I wouldn't trust "a Wall Street analyst" to walk my dog, let alone advise me on stocks. But that's just me.

I'm not sure. If the strongly rumored Amazon tablet is real, and it's delivered at a good price point with an OS that isn't locked down. it could put a real dent in Android tablet and Color Nook sales.
