GRRM shock horror.......
I appreciate I'm probably going to be regarded as a heretic, reviled, and suffer calumny heaped upon my heathen head, but......
I just finished the Hedge Knight trio [The Hedge Knight, Mystery Knight, Sworn Sword ] and found them extremely enjoyable, and in fact I enjoyed them far more than the by now over-blown, somewhat bloated, Ice & Fire series. There, I've said it, upon my own head...... The relative simplicity was a plus, and I speak as no great lover of shorter tomes in general. In fact I wanted them longer, but just noticed the edge was kind of drifting a bit by the end of the third, so perhaps, with this particular sources/s, lean is best..... |

He's a short story writer too (check out the retrospective Dreamsongs) so no surprise.
Personally I thought The Hedge Knight was best out of the three. |

I really enjoyed the Hedge Knight trio, too. No heresy here!
