.doc to .mobi problem

I saved the .doc document as a .htm file and used Calibre to create the ePUB format. After inserting some images, the ePUB file works like a charm.

However, the same thing cannot be said for the .MOBI format that is used on Kindle. I used Mobipocket Creator and Calibre to convert ePUB to .mobi and neither software works. For some reason, the picture doesn't align well with the text. I want them side by side.

Here is the code. It works fine when converting to ePUB format but not .mobi. Below is the picture of the bad format. I want "Example 4.1" to be up.

<p class=Standard><img src="sample-for-epub-html_files/4-1-image.PNG" width=285 height=343 style="float:left" hspace=12><b>Example
4.1:</b>&nbsp; This is a spot where you can be a pouncer by betting the turn with
the intention of</p>

I was reading the wiki for .mobi and apparently, one of its formatting limitation is:

"Text cannot flow around images taller than one line of text."

I'm not sure if this is the error I'm experiencing. If it is, is there any hack around it?

Indeed, mobi does not support the "float" property at all. All you can have is the image top-aligned or bottom-aligned with the text, but the second line of text will always come below the image.

I figured out a way how to do it. Use <table> with valign="top" for items in the table.
