Great deal on Steinbeck books

Back when I had the old Rocket eBook and then the Sony Reader, I downloaded a huge number of classics from Gutenberg. I was surprised and disappointed to find that evidently John Steinbeck's books are still under copyright, and not available there.

I had forgotten about that until today when I went to the Kindle site and searched for his books. Wow, they are there and most prices are around $1.50 to 2.50 or so. I have wanted to re-read many for years, so just bought several of them. Those are bargain prices for wonderful books.

That's good for kindle-owners to know.

Steinbeck died in 1968, so it will be a while before his books enter the public domain anywhere. (1st January 2119 in Canada.)

It will be 110 years until his books are out of copyright? How did he get that deal?

heh. i suspect that's a typo.

2019 would be correct. still quite a way off, but at least we have a hope of living to see that date...

I would bet that in the US the original 2119 is probably more likely to be the date that his books go out of copyright.
