Checking for file metadata after it's imported
Is there a way, preferably without using a plugin, to check to see if a file has metadata after it's been imported into Calibre?
For example: The 'Read metadata from file...' is unclicked in Preferences so when I import my book it gets the title and author from the filename. However I happen to know that the file has a description and tags stored in the metadata. This info wasn't imported though because Calibre was told not to look in the file for metadata. So once it's imported is there a way to look in the file for that metadata without having to reimport it with 'Read metadata from file..' clicked which would download the title and author versions I didn't want? |

Sure, open up the Edit Metadata window, select the format, then click the blue i. The brown book icon sets cover from the file.

Thank you! It figures I've used that option before. Some days the brain just doesn't want to work.
