Metadata and Calibre

Just wondering if I edit the metadata of an epub in Calibre, does it save the changes to the epub file or do I need to save to disk or convert it for the edited metadata to be saved into the epub?

Thanks!

Convert.
When you send to the Device or Save to Disk (this is NOT the Library), those files will be updated to the latest. The Library copy is as it was before the send.
