OK. Why do we see so many deals for the Sony PRS-500 popping up around the web ? Must be an explanation...

I am amazed how many are sold within just a few minutes/hours. Make this the suggested retail price, and e-books are going to fly!

Except that right now people know they can resell them for more, because the regular market price is so high. Hopefully Sony is taking that into account (though I still think they'd sell pretty well at $100 ea.)

Rats missed it again
This is insane. Don't Sony have a marketing department to set the price or something??? Sell it cheap like the Wii, Sony.

I'm more surprised that NBC, a broadcasting company, has its own shopping website...

I would guess that it's the web site for some kind of "TV Shopping channel"? We have a number of them in this country.

ShopNBC is NBC's version of QVC. The low price might also have been that they bought a quantity for resale, did not have enough takers when it aired, and then liquidated their remainder. edit to add: Since the quantity listed above was 700, I'd place a smart bet that they bought a quantity of 1,000, sold 300 of them at $299 on air and that the $149 was their liquidation price.
The price at the link is back to $299 now, and the status is still "unavailable." |
