Greener Kindle 2 USB power brick
Has anyone else been Kill-a-watt-ing their Kindle 2 USB power brick?
What I've noticed is that it appears to indeed be a 1 amp capable USB charger that pumps my iPhone 3G, Jawbone 2, HTC Fuze, Blackberry Storm and Sony PRS-700 to full power ASAP. But whereas the bricks supplied with the various devices listed typically draw 13 watts to provide the 5 watts of USB power the Kindle 2's USB brick is pulling 7 watts. Until someone else tells me my kill-a-watt meter is cracked this little gem is my new USB power brick of choice and I'm thinking about getting another. By the way, for anyone else with a Blackberry Storm: the Kindle 2 uses the same USB plug. I'm currently carrying the Kindle 2 USB power brick and the Blackberry Storm's USB cable in my Sony Vaio P's ditty bag. The shorter Storm cable fits the Sony ditty bag perfectly. |
