Thanks for that link. As they were growing up, his children read to him, and now there are five writers in the family. What a novel (and obviously successful in his case) approach to child rearing.

Finished The Outskirter's Secret. Wow. Just Wow! I'd forgotten how powerful this series gets. There's a sequence towards the end of this book that is just incredible.

Well, no question, straight on to the next one! The Lost Steersman.

Unfortunately, this isn't a book that supports WhisperSync for Voice, since I have an omnibus edition of the first four Amelia Peabody books, not individual ones. Well, and I bought it from Kobo with a 50% off coupon. Gee, wonder why Amazon's Whispersync isn't working.

Enjoyed The Martian a lot, it really should be adapted for a movie. Now next, in response to all the folks who've been highly favorably commenting on to Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters, I'll give it a look-see.

Which was fun as expected. Not too difficult to spot the murderer, but a pleasant journey. Although perhaps the characters are a little too exaggerated in places.

Next up: Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone. From my Kobo spree at the start of the month. It was recommended in this thread, and at 90% off I couldn't resist getting it. I hope I like it.

I finally finished The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan. Big, big book, though I managed to finish it in under 2 weeks! Really enjoying the Wheel of Time re-read.

I'm already about 30% into Dark Witch by Nora Roberts. It's good so far.

Wow!! Just finished watching Gravity, what a great movie!! Its similarity to The Martian is mostly in that its protaginist is so very lonely and cut off and has to deal with the situation on her [his] own. Again I hope that The Martian gets adapted into a movie and is made with the craft that Gravity was.

I read that 20th Century Fox has optioned the film rights.

I'm having fun reading Wendy Knits by Wendy Johnson. Nothing new under the sun, but it's nice to see how her knitting evolved little by little.

It was rightly part of the 5 star thread. An excellent fantasy, which I greatly enjoyed. That does mean that Max Gladstone's other book is now on my wishlist, but at around £10 (£12.59 at Kobo) it will have to wait for a price drop or a very good coupon.

Next up: Asimov's SF, June 2014 which just came out a day or two ago.

I am currently rereading Once A Hero by Elizabeth Moon. It is part of the Familias Regnant universe Series. Is the fourth and by a hair the best in the series. Well written military science fiction with a strong female protagonist. I first read the series in PB and am reading them all as eBooks.

The only information I found on that is nearly a year old; May 2013 to be more exact. It appears Drew Goddard, who directed The Cabin in the Woods, is in talks to take the helm of 20th Century Fox's big screen adaptation of Andy Weir's book. It also appears that The Martian started its life as an e-book. Interesting.

In keeping with the outer space theme, the book I'm currently reading is True History or Trips to the Moon by Lucian of Samosata (125CE-180CE). The author, who admitted he stretched the truth from time to time, nevertheless claimed this was a true history of his personal voyages to the moon as witnessed by himself, as opposed to those invented histories by other writers who he disparages as having relied on second hand stories or their own imaginations. Homer, by the way, who was but one of many famous personages and gods he met during his travels, not only had excellent eyesight, but was also the author of even his spurious works. Who knew?
