The book I was going to get said the publisher wouldn't allow any discounting.

Generally, but not always, if only one price is listed, that is the indication that it is Agency pricing--no discounts. In Canada, that means books published by Hachette, Grand Central, Warner, and Little Brown. Some of these publishers have other imprints controlled by them.

Thanks for the head's up on that. I've seen the term "Agency pricing" before but never really knew what it meant (and never bothered to look it up), but that's good to know. It's a bit of a bummer, anyway.

I used my one-time 35% off new patron discount on a book that I'd totally given up on finding, even in print, at any price. Now back to Kobo to see what else I can snag with this 30% deal.
