Screen Blanks When Connected To USB
Hello,
I've just installed the Jailbreak kindle-jailbreak-0.4.N.zip and kindle-usbnetwork-0.28.N.zip, then I've tried the ;debugOn command, everything worked, but now when I plug on the USB cable, the screen blanks, instead of showing that common USB screen. I've also tried to do the ;debugOff command, because I thought that it could be the debug mode, but nothing happened. I've added a video to help: Best Regards, Nathan Paulino Campos |

Is the Kindle supposed to be in Mass Storage or Ethernet mode when that happens? (And what actually do the computer see in terms of USB device?)

And the right partition is exported, or nothing?
If it works, there's probably not much I can say, probably a weird quirk... I sometimes see a blank screen on *unplug* on FW 2.x (and then you just have to hit [HOME] anyway), but on *plug*, that's new . If it doesn't export anything over USBMS, then something indeed is wrong . (And, yeah, debug mode shouldn't impact anything regarding the usb mode screen). In any case, I wouldn't mind taking a look at your syslogs (;dumpMessages). |

If I install the original update from Amazon, it will remove the jailbreak and the usbnetwork?
I would just do a test to see if it comes back to normal. |

@Nathan Campos: No, it won't.
If you didn't enable the auto feature, it pretty much doesn't *do* anything in itself anyway. And, just in case, don't boot/update with the Kindle plugged to a computer. That usually ends up in weird stuff like this. EDIT: You might want to try the .29 update, too. Last edited by NiLuJe; 11-11-2010 at 02:08 AM. |

Note that this (the failed update I mean) shouldn't ever happen in the first place on a properly jailbroken kindle, so something definitely seems fishy. Last edited by NiLuJe; 11-11-2010 at 08:07 PM. |

I accidentally clicked on the Restart button instead of the System Update button. So when I connected my Kindle to the PC now, it worked! It's displaying everything fine. So I think this should be a bug on the hack.
What do you think? If it is, it should be added to the bug tracking and explained on the official topic here, that you need to do a Reset on the device to make everything work fine. Quote:
