Having to Charge Multiple Times to Get Full Battery

So I charge my Kobo and about 20 min later red light comes on. Battery is only quarter to half full. Unplug Kobo from PC, turn it off (or else red light won't turn off) then plug back in and it charges again for awhile to maybe 3 quarters way full before red light comes on again. Rinse, repeat and then it's finally full.

Will the battery eventually calibrate or am I screwed?

I'm just charging mine for the first time. I let it charge for the full 3 hours when I first got in on Monday and today I was noticing it was down to one little tick left on the battery icon so I plugged it in. From what I read on their customer care FAQ, it says a full charge should take about 2-3 hours. My red light came on after about 30 mins, but I'm leaving it in for the full 3 hours just to be safe. I'll update my post when it's done and let you know if it says it's fully charged or not.

The instructions state that when the red light comes on it's fully charged, but in my case it has not been.

If I leave it plugged in (even when red light is on) will it still charge?

I imagine so. The red light came on after being plugged in for about 20-30 mins on mine...I left it for just over 3 hours, the red light on the entire time. I just unplugged it and the battery shows a full charge. The red light didn't go off until I powered the unit down then turned it on again.

Probably the red indicator is driven by a software daemon who either trusts a chip not well calibrated or has a bug in it.

As StealthyScribe states, live it charging no matter what.
