Which reader has little or no extraneous bezel?
Hi all,
I have been using a Sony PRS505 and rather like it but I find one irritating thing: There is way too much bezel! This makes the devices I have seen, including the Sony 300, bigger (wider and longer) than it needs to be and makes it difficult to carry in a pocket. Are there any reader devices out in the market which have minimal bezel, maybe with buttons on the edge of the unit? Tra Piggly |

To minimize the bevel look for a touch screen model. The upcoming plastic logic unit looks most promising in this regard. However, we will have to wait and see whether the screen clarity is good, or if it suffers from the same glare problem as on the touch-screen Sony.

Hiho,
I'm not really interested in touchscreen readers, to be honest, and the Plastic Logic reader is HUUUGE! Nice piece of hardware, but hardly pocket-sized! Specifically, what I'm looking for is something like the 505 in functionality but without all the real estate at the bottom. I'm pretty sure the readers could be made to be not much wider and longer than the display itself, placing the necessary buttons on the side, or even on the back. This way, I could easily slip a 5" display unit in my pocket. Tra Meh. |

The CyBook Opus is probably the best in that regard at present. You can comfortably carry it in a pocket (in its carrying pouch, of course).

If you check out the E-book Reader matrix:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_Reader_Matrix You can see the dimensions on the various 5" models. It looks like the smallest are the pocketbook and the Hanlin V5 (the Astak EZReader PocketPro and the Bebook Mini). MLH |

Interesting to see what would enhance portability for some people compared with others, for me the narrower the device the better since that seems to be the limiting factor for me in a jacket pocket.

I'd look at the Txtr. Most readers have a rather large bottom bezel. The Txtr only has a side bezel (where you can hold the device).
Only problem, it's not out yet... |
