Sony Reader Daily Edition - SCOOP!

In New York, Sony is going to announce a new 3G, touchscreen equipped Sony Reader with an estimated retail of $399. The touchscreen is described as being seven inches wide. The wireless service will be provided by ATT. There will be no charge for access to Sony's ebook store.

Sony will also announce a new service, Library Finder. This involves close integration with digital libraries supported by Overdrive.

The above post was based on the limited information I uncovered in the days before the press conference. It may not be completely accurate.

Interesting: though I hope that doesn't mean US-sales only again. Be better if it could be sold in other places and the wireless only worked in the US.

But Wi-Fi would be better.

If true, and the contrast is as good as my 505, then this is the device for me.

If it has a touch screen, it will don't have the same contrast like the 600 and the 700

So they are saying it is a "7inch" device not 7inch wide screen. So, that is just a bit bigger than the PRS600 but not as big as the Kindle DX or iRex DR1000.

Are there any other 3G readers? AFAIK Whispernet is EVDO, not 3G.
