Collections Manager Not Showing on Kindle Pw
I installed the device jailbreak and it successfully completed, then I installed the Kindlet jailbreak and it successfully updated, then I installed the developers certs and it successfully updated. I copied the collectionsmanager.azw2 file to the documents folder and it's not appearing on my home screen. I do not have any other hacks installed. Am I missing something?

I need a little help. I'm on Touch.
I've just unstalled the plugin. I already have 8 collections on my kindle I created manually. I've added the calibre plugin Kindle Collections v31 and selected in the menu Kindle Model: Touch I tried to import the collections from kindle but it does not work, the custom field remains empty. Can you please help me? Mf |

You need to export the collections from CM (on the Kindle) first, using the menu item, before you can import them in calibre. The same holds the other way: if you export them from calibre, you need to import them afterwards in CM.
The reason is that calibre only works with json files ("system/collections.json" on the Kindle, to be exact), and that this file needs to be merged with the internal collections database when syncing TO the Kindle, or (re-)created from the internal collections database when syncing FROM the Kindle. I suppose that this is the problem you're having. Otherwise, please provide more input |

I opened Collection Manager then Menu Export to Calibre (I get a file on USB root: kindle_collections_path_cache.calibre) Open Calibre Connect USB Import Collections Collections imported but everything is empty. Let's say I have Book A under "Kids" category-folder on the Kindle I would have expected to have Kids in the custom column on Book A Am I wrong? what am I doing wrong? Can you help me more? (what info you may need?) M EDIT 1: found a message on Kindle ERROR writing /mnt/us/system/collections.json I re did all the process (without any error on Kindle) and still is empty. EDIT 2: First message was due to the too early connection Second: I'm too quick (or a dummy). The issue was simply that I was NOT waiting for the json file to be written. Now it works! It seems like you did everything right on the CM side of things. Just to double-check, verify that you have a "collections.json" file in the "system" folder of the Kindle, and that it looks half-way correct (much of it is just seemingly garbage numbers (UUIDs, ASINS, and such, but you should at least find the collection names in there).
I can't really help you with the calibre side of things, but I remember that it needs a little bit of setup before you can use it properly. Maybe that is what you are missing. Please refer to the calibre plugin documentation... IIRC, the plugin can also show details about what it did (like number of imported collections etc.) |

Next step:
I have edited the custom column and added the books to the correct Collections. I did an edit manually, save and Calibre said: collections saved Exit from Collection Manager, get back and Import is there The problem is that it is not using the new collections I'm still missing something |

Oooh, this is nice. Very nice indeed. What Kindle collections should have been like all along. Thank you very much, ixtab!

Yes, everybody, including you, can.
Edit the menu.json file, and replace the string "KTCollectionsManager.azw2" by "CollectionsManager.azw2". Last edited by ixtab; 01-06-2013 at 09:56 PM. |

Probably not. The MOBI8_DEBUG file is actually still evaluated, but long-pressing the corners does nothing. So they seem to have removed the fundamental bit of functionality.
