International Kindle DX??? When??

Hi,

I would very much like to buy a Kindle DX, but I am in The Netherlands.
It seems best to wait for the international device to come out, it must eventually (or so everyone thinks).
Any rumours on the possible time of introduction? I'm tired of waiting.
A mail to Amazon of course went totally unanswered....

It has been announced for "sometime next year". That's all anyone knows, I'm afraid.

Hi Jan, I have just bought one from someone on ebay (very reasonably priced if you want the link) and I am in Australia. I am able to do everything via computer such as buy books, update software etc. The only thing I was unable to do was have the device register itself (buts its registered to me on my account) so I am unable to access the settings but that does not seem to be a big deal or loss and I am having a problem downloading book samples via computer (but according to Amazon this should be able to be done). So if you dont want to wait then I can confirm that its very doable to have a DX and not live in the US.

Thanks for the input and kind words of consolation. I know of the ebay machines. I very nearly bought one, but then I thought twice. Searching wiki and google seems great to me. Buying books directly to your machine does not seem such a big deal to me however.

Maybe in the meantime a better machine turns up....

You can't currently use a Kindle outside the US for general web access - it's restricted to buying books, and searching Wikipedia.
