Adobe Digital Editions pre-release 1.0 screenshots

While Adobe is preparing the first commercial release of Adobe Digital Editions, I already had the chance to play with a near-final version of their dedicated e-book reader software.

Compared to the last public beta, the release candidate has a revamped user interface, adds support for multiple bookshelves, improves the PDF viewing with smooth scrolling and enhanced zooming, and adds annotations capabilities with support for bookmarks, highlighting, and text notes.

... "commercial release"?

Are they actually planning on selling the software?

This I don't know. Adobe only refers to the final version as the "commercial" release.

I've seen that same cover design on other poorly formatted ebooks. Ballantine Books does not bother to put in the proper book cover and gives us this cheap genertic cover. They use a base font size that is too small and margins that are way to much. They seem to be doing it for more then just the Sony Reader. Whoever is doing the conversions and whoever is approving them needs to be fired.

Oh, I don't know, I think a good, old-fashioned pimp-slap might be worth a try, before we fire them ... be nice and satisfying, at the very least.

Can we just slap them on the way out of the building? Form a line and each one of us takes his or her turn as they walk down the hall of shame?
