Display Problem Kindle 2

I turned on my Kindle 2 last night after using it in the afternoon, and only saw a blank screen with a few black horizontal bars.

I called customer support today and they said it was a problem with my Display screen. Since I'm still in warranty, they are sending me a new one early next week.

Is this a common problem with the Kindle 2? I've had mine for 11 months.

Sorry about your Kindle - at least you are getting a replacement

I don't think it is a really common problem with the Kindle itself. It is something that can happen to any e-ink device (Kindle, Sony Readers etc) if you happen to be unlucky.

Amazon have very good customer service so it's not a big issue - unfortunately I've read bad reports on here about Sony's customer service regarding this issue.
