Bricked-Freezed PW
I am a new kindle user, I own a PW for a while. I have it jailbroken using ixtab's jailbreak. It was all fine until today, when I prepared 4 books, and transferred to my kindle using calibre. Then I tried to ssh my kindle -not for serious stuff, just for exploration. But it didn't respond to the SSH request. I decided to reboot it. But it stuck in a reboot loop which ended up with the "needs repair" screen.
So I tried using rescue pack of ixtab, at first I was able to ssh into my Kindle. I tried to scp my personel files, in case I loose them. It didn't work. I mounted kindle as USB device, using Diags screen, copied my documents in the root folder to my PC. Ejected the device, and re-tried SSHing. And now my kindle is frozen. It doesn't respond at all -even if I press its button for about a minute! It is frozen with "Misc individual diagnostics" line selected. Any ideas? |

hmm. this sounds odddly quite a bit like the 3's when they just decide to "Die".
I would just put it back in the box and send it back, It "reads" like it is highly unlikely to be as a consequence of your actions. Thus item unfit for purpose, thus return. See what customer sevices say. On the MOUNTAN of P/w's that got returned for "bad screens" your little device won't even make a tiny blip HTH |

Thanks twobob.
Do they accept it jailbroken or you just mean they won't probably check? Is it possible to get Diags screen w/o jailbreak? |

From your description, it's not entirely clear which state your Kindle is currently in (like: does it even show up as (any kind of) a device after boot?).
But it sure looks like it's in a state where it's not willing to boot anything to get itself together again, so yes - it just seems to be bricked for good. Just return it to Amazon, and have them figure it out. . |
