Intel Metro notebook video clip
Slim and light enough to fit into a tuxedo without messing your lines, the Intel Metro notebook has drawn some huge attention these days. Gizmodo has a link to a video clip (via AeroXP) showing the ultra-think device and its external E Ink display in action. It doesn't look like much yet, but I am sure they'll do more impressive stuff with it in near future.
Thanks to Scotty for the tip! Related: Intel Metro Notebook: a new use for e-ink, Hands-on with the E Ink-equipped Intel Metro Notebook, PVI develops color E Ink display for Intel Metro Notebook |

Watching the video, a couple of drawbacks to this approach occurred to me. The first is I realized how exposed (as in unprotected) the e-ink panel is in the design. The second is how exposed to other folks reading it the e-ink panel is, which might not be the best thing in the world.
I can just see some hacker writing a virus to access the e-ink panel and display information or whatever without your knowledge when the lid is open so that anyone walking by might see it. Could be pretty bad, depending on how nasty said hacker was disposed to be that day (assuming your e-ink panel wasn't scratched and scuffed so badly as to be unreadable). |

It's black and white e-ink, despite the concept pictures showing a color e-ink screen. I remember seeing a few news saying that it would display colors...

They have said it is just at concept laptop. Which is a bit sad, I could certainly buy one
