Grahame, Kenneth: The Golden Age. v2. 03 Dec 2015

The Golden Age by Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932)

First published 1895.

Version 2 of this book revised December 2015 to remove illustrations still under copyright in “Life+70” countries.
The text of this book is in the public domain in countries where copyright is “Life+80” or less, and in the USA.

By the author of The Wind in the Willows, Dream Days, Pagan Papers, The Headswoman.
--------
In these pages, alive with memories of the author’s boyhood, a troupe of clever and imaginative youngsters carry out their pranks and adventures, evoking youth for every reader, and recalling emotions, if not actions. “Ah, now I remember…”
~ ~ ~
The Golden Age is a collection of reminiscences of childhood. Written primarily for adults, many of these essays first appeared in the National Observer. Widely praised upon its first appearance, the book has come to be regarded as a classic in its genre. Grahame’s reminiscences, in The Golden Age and in the later Dream Days (1898), were notable for their conception “of a world where children are locked in perpetual warfare with the adult ‘Olympians’ who have wholly forgotten how it feels to be young” — a theme later explored by J. M. Barrie and other authors. (—Adapted from Wikipedia.)

--------
Formatted and Anglicized punctuation, restored italics and diacritics. Annotated translations of Latin and Greek phrases. Chapter titles are cross-linked to in-line Table of Contents. Embedded fonts for titling and caps.

--------
This is often promoted as a children's book, although it wasn't really written for children--- you judge if youngsters you know might enjoy this book. (they might pick up some new tricks here!)
