Paper white diagnosis
My two year old paper white is doing ok but it has some issues: Once every month or so it gets hung up some where and I need to re-boot it, sometimes twice. I have checked the firmware and its been upgraded to the latest version. What's your diagnosis of my paper white one.

I have no diagnosis, but if it were my unit, I'd do a factory reset.

Its two years old, I do not think that they would help with a paper white that old, however if you are saying that they would I will try that.

Make sure you contact Amazon KINDLE customer service. They are usually very helpful.

I also had that issue recently on my PW1, but it happens so infrequently that I never let it bother me...

If the problem just started, it's probably something related to your content: Either too much, a book that didn't copy properly (and)/or a problem with the index.
Check to see that you have enough space (things start to get weird when there's less than about 200mb) and delete something if you have less than that. If that doesn't work, try deleting the documents folder contents on the Kindle (if you have a backup) and transferring the content again. It'll re-index on its own so leave the Kindle alone for awhile. |

My daughter's K3 screen broke outside of warranty. I called Kindle support just to see what my options were and they offered me a discounted PW1 (refurb,,, this was before the PW2 came out, iirc). The refurb came with problems so they replaced it with a new one. Sweet!
That being said, there's nothing wrong with your PW that a new Voyage/Kobo won't fix. Last edited by speedlever; 10-01-2014 at 07:03 AM. |

Sometimes I would have to clean out my indexing folder and let it re-index everything to help speed things up.

My PW 2 freezes every once in a while and I need to re-boot. It's done that since I've had it but the re-booting solves the problem. I've learned, though, to take note of the current page I'm reading because when I re-enter the book, I'm taken to a place many pages prior to the one I was on when the device froze.
It's otherwise problem-free though and I've never had to re-boot twice. Jim |
