Is it possible to add the Kobo Vox to ones home network workgroup?

Using a file manager with lan capabilities (like es file explorer) you can access network shares on your lan. Do you need to do more than that?

As mr_nobody states ES File Explorer works very nicely for accessing network shares.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to connect thru the USB cable and copy files over to the Vox. I'm using Debian Linux with Dolphin. It worked OK'd.

I was just wanting to be able to do this file transfer over the wifi. If there was a "workgroup", this could be achieved.

Check into Dropbox. You might find it even more flexible than a workgroup solution.

If you mean Windows Workgroup that's not necessary. Indeed Windows Workgroup is really meaningless as each PC in a Windows Workgroup has separate accounts. (Although accounts could be named the same on each PC and the associated password is the same.)

What you need is the network device name or IP address, a user name on that device and the associated password. Also realizing that if the IP address is given out by DHCP it could easily change if the PC, say a laptop, does some traveling and then comes back to your network.

(I'm using the term device rather than PC as this could be a Linux server running Samba, some kind of Network Attached Server running Windows networking protocol or a Windows PC.)

ES file explorer will see all of your network shares regardless of the workgroup(s) you have set up. In addition to a windows workgroup I have a linux server with samba shares and the vox sees them. There is no need to add the vox to the workgroup (in fact, you cannot).
