This time, both 'auto' and 'epub2' settings work well. Thank you for your work!

I just tried to split a combination Mobi/KF8 and the KindleUnpack plugin tossed up the following error...
Code:
calibre, version 2.14.0 ERROR: KindleUnpack - The Plugin v0.77.0: mobi_split instance has no attribute 'result_file7' Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.extraction", line 218, in combo_split File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.utilities", line 297, in writeSplitCombo File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.core.mobi_split", line 429, in getResult7 AttributeError: mobi_split instance has no attribute 'result_file7' Last edited by JSWolf; 12-30-2014 at 11:40 PM. |

I'll take a look. Might not be for a few days yet, though. The split feature is one of the few things that's handled a bit differently in the plugin than it is in the standalone tool. I have a feeling it's got something to do with the way filenames are generated.

I just got an Unknown_517 error when trying to unpack an AZW3:
Spoiler:
Kindleunpack has been working like a charm up to this point. It's a magazine file that calibre's ebook viewer can display successfully.

Any chance you're equipped to use the standalone KindleUnpack script? That way you could enable debugging in order to generate more output that could shed some additional light. Thanks, for the report. |

Am using Toshiba Satellite L875, 4GB memory
Runniing Windows 8.1 calibre 2.19 I have a VERY large (35Mb) MOBI book (The Kindle Oxford Dictionary). Works great on the Kindle, but not on the PC. The size is due to the very extensive cross-references. I want to edit out all the cross-references leaving only the text itself. Planned to use KindleUnpack to get to the HTML file and use Word to delete all the material I didn't want. Installed KindleUnpack plug-in. It worked fine on another large MOBI file (12MB). But choked on the 35MB file due to memory error. calibre, version 2.19.0 ERROR: KindleUnpack - The Plugin v0.77.0: Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.extractio n", line 186, in unpack_ebook File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.utilities ", line 282, in unpackMOBI File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.core.kindleun pack", line 870, in unpackBook File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.core.kindleun pack", line 793, in process_all_mobi_headers File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.core.kindleun pack", line 586, in processMobi7 File "calibre_plugins.kindleunpack_plugin.core.mobi_htm l", line 100, in insertHREFS MemoryError |

Hi,
You will need to run it on a machine with more memory (possibly a 64 bit machine). Kevin Quote:

Is the plugin going to be updated to the latest version of KindleUnpack?

That's not a "version." Versions are numbered/tagged and released. That's an unreleased commit.
I MAY put together a version of the plugin that includes that particular commit, but more than likely, I'll wait for a new release. Especially since the bug it fixes is so rare. |

You may be able to convert it to epub using Calibre, then open the file in Sigil, which has a VERY good find/replace, and handles regex. Work your way through, or delete any section you don't want, save, then convert back to whatever format you want.

After letting calibre work on it for over 24 hours I gave that up. However, found a program that could convert a MOBI to HTML. Then could use Word to edit out major blocks of footnotes, cross-references cutting it down by 60%. Calibre was then able to convert the html file to epub. Then used Sigil regex to take out the superscript links. Then could use calibre editor to pretty-ize it. Then found it to be an interesting exercise but not useful as a desk reference.
