Thumbs down Linux install of calibre & several problems

Hello,

My first problem is that calibre does not recognize my Sony PRS-300. I can see it in the OS when I plug in the USB cable.

My second problem is that calibre randomly crashes, and crashes hard, when I close the program. Yesterday, I could not close it without it crashing; this morning, it hasn't crashed once...

My third problem is that calibre takes a long, long time to load. Sometimes, it fails to load at all, verified by
Code:
ps aux | grep calibre
.

My configuration:

*calibre 0.6.42
*Fedora 13, kernel 2.6.33.5-112.fc13.x86_64
*Sony PRS-300
*Soon to be PocketBook 301+

calibre-debug:
Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/calibre-debug", line 19 in <module>
     sys.exit(main())
  File "/usr/lib64/calibre/calibre/debug.py", line 118, in main
     ipython()
  File "/usr/lib64/calibre/calibre/__init__.py", line 523, in ipython
     from IPython.Shell import IPShellEmbed
ImportError: No module named IPython.Shell
calibre-debug does not seem to like stdout redirection, so I typed the above... there may be a space where there shouldn't be, or vice-versa .

Okay, so I typed
Code:
yum install ipython
and it seems to have fixed the calibre-debug error.

Still working on the others...

0.6.42 is an old version. I have problems on Ubuntu 10.4 with the latest 0.7.1, but the earlier 0.6.55 seems OK for me. You can download it from the Calibre web site.

Thank you, I downloaded the 0.655 version from Sourceforge & it seems to work well, now.

Thank you.
